Somerset West is the HotSpot of the Western Cape. Not just due to the proximity to all the golf-courses and fine restaurants but here ist the place where the wine-route and the garden route start.

Stellenbosch has some nice pictures of its surrounding on the web.

If you want to take a look at the wineries you can do that by using Google Earth.

The Garden Route is the way from Somerset West eastwards.

A picturesque way through green fields, shorelanes and deserts. Don`t be a tourist and try to make 400 miles in a day. Take a week time and slow down to african "speed".

Have a rest and stay overnight in one of those small B&Bs along the way. This is the Africa you have red about in one of the old grumpy travel guides. Charming and unforgetable.
